Fath has demonstrated through the use of network analysis that, when all direct and indirect relationships are taken into account, ecosystems show overall positive degrees of mutual benefit. Similar network analyses of direct and indirect benefits, in our opinion, can also be utilized to determine how the level of mutual benefit affects the systemic health of socioeconomic systems.
